Take A Beat; Calming Down Helps You Make Better Decisions

The work isn't in becoming different or changing who you are. The work is removing the resistance. (8).png

Have you heard the expression, "When your emotions go high, your intelligence goes low"?

Or have you had the experience of getting really worked up (angry, sad, scared) and feeling like you've lost the ability to accurately communicate what you're feeling or needing?

Yeah, me too.

I heard this flipped around the other day as, "you're a lot smarter when you're calm and coming from a positive place."

Which is true. When you're not in fight-or-flight, you can think more clearly, articulate more thoughtfully, and be more curious about the greater context of what's going on around you.

It's a good reminder to always check in with your emotions, notice how you're feeling, and take the time to PAUSE. If you're feeling incredibly angry and know you're likely to say something you'll later regret, pause and ask for some time to calm down.

If you need a moment to go to the bathroom and wipe away the tears, ask for it. It's okay.

While it's 100% important to feel all the feelings, it's not always best to ACT on the feelings, and taking some time to check in with our bodies and separate out the feeling from what we actually want can be incredibly beneficial to the outcome of whatever we're going through.

Take a beat and check in <3

In both Self Awareness and Self Management, we do work on noticing what's going on in our bodies and shifting stories and emotions.

New cohorts start next week!
