Tell me if this sounds like you…

  • You're tired of feeling like you're broken and that you need to be fixed in some way.

  • You spend wayyyy too much time overthinking and waste hours of your life overanalyzing situations.

  • You wish there was a way to let go of the little things so you could be more present to the things that matter.

  • You need to find a better way to work through the overwhelming feelings that knock you off track over and over again.

  • You're done trying to be the person everyone else wants you to be - you want to feel safe & comfortable being your authentic self.

  • You want to trust yourself not to make decisions in heated moments that you’ll regret later.

Good news!

I help my clients with those same problems every single day.
And if you're like any of them, you've probably made some of the same mistakes.

Mistakes like...

Believing "the only way to do emotional and mental health work is through 1:1 therapy.”

Therapy's great (and I fully believe we should all be in therapy), but in the modern world, it is only one of many different tools for better understanding ourselves and learning tools for healing and changing our patterns.

You have to remember that therapists are people and the quality of therapy you receive varies widely on a number of different factors;
the experience of the therapist,
what their focus or expertise is in,
and just whether or not you connect with them and their style. Therapy's a great tool, but it's not the whole tool box.

If you want to really work on letting go of some of your patterns and retraining your nervous system, once a week talk therapy is a wonderful resource, but it usually isn't enough to help you really see results quickly (not too mention that you have to wait a week between sessions).

In Let It Go, you're given access to a specific sequence of exercises and tools that build on one another, giving you plentiful opportunities to reflect in guided, meaningful ways and to practice new skills.

Believing "It's not possible to change WHO I am. Being a super sensitive person with big, overwhelming feelings is just part of who I am, right?"

It's not possible to change WHO you are, but it's 100% possible to shift your behavior and how you respond to your feelings! Your behavior does not define who you are as a person, and actually much of our behavioral patterning is learned and isn't inherent to who we are as people. Which means it can absolutely change!

WHO you are and WHAT you do are two separate things.

In Let It Go, we take a look at both; what drives you and makes you feel like YOU at your deepest core, and then you also look at your behavioral patterns and see if how you respond to the world feels in alignment and true to your values.

From there, you can begin to see places where you can shift stories and utilize tools to help you RESPOND in a way that feels more authentic to you.

Believing "I've been doing this work for awhile (therapy, books, etc) and haven't made a lot of progress. I'm not sure anything can help me.”

As someone who spent well over a decade in talk therapy, worked with coaches, read so many books, worked with healers, and felt like she tried everything - I fully hear this and know the struggle. For me it wasn't until I started PRACTICING the new tools regularly and retraining my nervous system that I really started to see results.

Talk therapy and reading self help books are GREAT but can only take you so far if you're not actively making changes in your daily life. You have to PRACTICE the tools to integrate them.

Which is why I created this course; to put together the pieces that were the most effective for me in a MUCH more affordable and streamlined way.

As a former teacher and design strategist, I put this course together with a TON of exercises and reflection tools, many of which I recommend doing with other people to help you better process the information. There are so many opportunities to PRACTICE within this online course - take the tools and DO them and you will absolutely start to see results.

Imagine.

  • If there were a way to move through difficult periods of your life with confidence and grace...

  • Finally feeling confident about the way you choose to handle conflict without overthinking every word...

  • Noticing triggers and watch them pass without getting sucked into the drama and story the emotion brings up...

  • Making big life decisions and trusting in your ability to know what's right for YOU...

  • Spending so much more time focused on what actually matters, and having the bandwidth to support others with your whole heart...

  • Feeling confident that you are showing as your best self in all of your relationships, and know you are making your children proud...

Who is this for?

Anxious Over-thinkers

If you have a tendency to overthink, then it's likely because you're trying to avoid certain feelings by controlling the outcome. There’s always a story connected to this behavior about how you "should" be handling the situation.

In this course I'll help you to use tools to move through the uncomfortable feelings so that you begin to allow things to flow as they need to.

Highly Sensitive Deep Feelers

Being highly sensitive is a beautiful gift - until you feel over-stimulated and overwhelmed from taking on everyone else's "stuff."

This course will help you learn tools for feelings your feelings so that you can move through them, AND release yourself from the responsibility of needing to take care of everyone else's emotional well-being just because you can feel it.

Those Who Can’t Let It Go

Maybe it's a former relationship, or just the comment a co-worker made this morning, but you tend to get stuck ruminating over things that happened in the past and can't let go of the feeling attached to them or the story surrounding the event.

This course will help you identify the pieces that are keeping you stuck and allow you to see them, feel them, and let 'em go.

Basically, this is for you if...

You want to stop losing hours of your life overthinking and overanalyzing every little thing.

You've spent a lot of time in therapy but don't know HOW to stop the big feelings from completely taking over and knocking you off the path to your relationship and career goals.

You've read a ton of self-help books but you're still overwhelmed by the thought that you're broken or that something is wrong with you.

You spend a lot of time in your head but you're not actually doing anything productive in there.

You want an easy, straightforward path to releasing the emotional blocks, stories, and overwhelm in the next 4 weeks.

On the flip-side...

This is not for you if...

You’re looking for a magic bullet and aren't willing to do the exercises and reflections in the program.

You aren't willing to take personal responsibility for how YOU are showing up in your life every single day.

You hate introspection and personal development work.

You prefer to crowdsource free groups rather than get real, actionable strategy from experts.

Praise for Genny

Hi, I'm Genny!

I'm a teacher, facilitator, and coach and I work with people to develop their emotional intelligence so that they can confidently navigate the emotional parts of being a human.

I've always been a teacher at heart with a love for experiential design, genuine connection, and doing things a bit differently. I mean, I started my teaching career at an experimental dual-language international school in Germany, and I found my way into THIS work after attending an Interactive Art Direction masters program in Stockholm, Sweden.

It's safe to say I tend to stray a bit from the norm and love to stretch my comfort zone, which is how the The EQ School was born.

Why I created this:

After studying in Sweden, I went into design strategy, and then into Organization Development, but I couldn't help but see how many people could benefit from these simple tools.

Tools and processes that would help them take responsibility for how their background impacts their worldview. Tools that would help them stop talking shit behind each other's backs and instead have the hard but vulnerable conversation that would help the other party understand what's going on. Tools that would help them advocate for the importance of their own feelings in ANY setting, and that would help them with sitting with their feelings, learning from them, and letting the energy behind them go.

I started teaching these workshops to friends in my living room in 2016, then live on zoom in 2020, and now I've put them together for you now in a self-paced online course.

Once you start using them, the work isn't over - it's just beginning. But take these skills with you to every area of your life, and you will feel like a different person.

Wait, so does this course replace therapy?

No, this course isn't a replacement for working one on one with a licensed therapist. As a matter of fact, I highly recommend people take my courses and workshops in CONJUNCTION with working with a therapist.

That said, if you've been in therapy for a long time and haven't felt like you've made progress in awhile, this course will shake things up. One recent participant said he felt like he made more progress in 5 weeks doing this course than in 6 months of therapy, and had so much more to bring to his sessions afterward.

I've tried a lot of different healing modalities but I really just feel broken. Will this course help me heal?

Here's the thing about brokenness and healing; no one is truly broken, you just learned patterns that are deeply ingrained in your brain and body, but they no longer serve you the way they did in the environment in which you first learned them. At the beginning of this process, we think “healing” means we get to a place where we're all better and we no longer struggle; I don't think of it that way.

Instead, I think it's more helpful to think of this work as rewriting your stories and retraining yourself to live out different patterns. Better patterns will help you live the life you want to live. For example, if you find you're very reactive then that comes from somewhere; it's triggered by something. When you can zoom out and see the bigger pattern (What is setting off? What painful story is connected to that specific trigger?), you can start making tweaks to aspects of it (setting boundaries, using different forms of communication, pausing before responding) that will shift the pattern as a whole, and as a result, it'll shift how you show up in the world and in your relationship to yourself and others.

You're not broken, but let's retrain your brain to learn some new different patterns!

What if I don't have a specific story I'm trying to let go of, but I do struggle emotionally in a lot of ways?

The course is designed to help you reverse-engineer from the problem to the core story; start with where you're feeling stuck or struggling emotionally, and you'll find a deeper story or set of rules that are perpetuating the emotion as you go through the prompts and lessons in the course.

How does "design thinking" fit into this course on emotional stuff?

Really good designers and creators become skilled at trying things just to see what happens, learning from what they find out, and then applying it and doing the whole thing over again until they get a result they're satisfied with. Perfectionism doesn't work in design thinking.

The best designers are able to understand how their perspective impacts what they're trying to create; they can see their biases and will ask for help or outside perspectives to counteract it. They're also able to see responses to their work as information and don't take them super personally. This distance is IMPERATIVE to doing really good work.

In this course, especially in the first part, I help you see how your experiences and stories are the biases that are getting in the way of being able to let go of whatever it is you're trying to move past or heal. Many of the exercises are designed to help you practice putting space between who you are and how you feel so that you can make clearer, better decisions. I help you develop this as a practice. And then of course the last section of the course is all about managing those big feelings :)

I've heard you mention releasing energy behind the feelings, but you also talk about rewriting stories. Is this process more about feeling feelings in the body or processing things mentally?

It's both; both are absolutely required, especially for the type of clients I usually work with who tend to struggle with anxiety and overthinking/overanalyzing. In this course we work on finding a balance between the mind and the body;
how can we address and rewrite the stories that keep driving the feeling?
How can we navigate a feeling when we're too emotionally activated to logically try to rewrite the story?
Both are needed and both are addressed in detail in this course.

Are the methods in this course "proven" to help with regulating the nervous system?

There are many "proven" methods for nervous system regulation - you can google nervous system regulation techniques and you'll find a ton; it's becoming more and more well known that things like meditation, breathwork, and cold exposure therapy are incredibly effective when used regularly. The problem is that most people only use the tools when they're struggling instead of making them into a normal practice that retrains the nervous system. It's like if you only exercise right after the holidays you're not going to maintain the positive effects of moving your body.

In this workshop I've created a system for using the tools in a guided sequence that you'll be able to use over and over again. It will be up to you to practice using the sequence and if you do, it absolutely works.
